Feng Shui has been in existence for thousands of years. Whilst originating in ancient China, many aspects of Feng Shui have been adopted and utilised in the West. Ancient sites, temples and churches across the World have been founded on special areas of "good energy". C'hi, translated as "breath" or "energy", is the most important concept in Feng Shui. C'hi is leading factor affecting human life. The C'hi of the environment (our houses and workplaces) has a great effect on the atmosphere and the people inside it. For this reason, we feel happy or relaxed in certain places and anxious or depressed in others. By assuring good C'hi flow in our space we can improve the quality of our lives. In recent years, there have been significant changes in the application of architectural and interior design, with often dramatic results. The use of plastic, toxic materials and the creation of artificial environments has caused an upsurge in "sick building" syndrome. As we are enter the 21st century, we are becoming more aware of the importance of our surroundings and can now look to the ancient knowledge of Feng Shui to help us create healthy, happy environments. By consciously imposing our intentions and wishes onto our physical environment, we are changing our reality and creating new possibilities for things we desire. Therefore, Feng Shui is about designing our own future.
