Topsy has been painting since 1972 and began exhibiting and selling her work in 1977. Living in the Highlands of Scotland her sensitive landscapesand delicate watercolour and pen and ink drawings, in which reality and fantasy were often mixed, were popular at local galleries.

In 1982 Topsy came to London and developed the technique she now favours,painting on handmade plaster tiles and panels ("Versatiles"). Inspired by Italian fresco, she works on both wet and dry plaster to create distinctive texturesand effects.

She has been selling her work successfully in Hampstead since 1990 andher style has become increasingly personal, focusing strongly on themesdrawn from the natural world and mythology.

Recently Topsy has begun selling larger pieces of her work on commissionand has clients both in Britain and abroad.
